Wendy Asiamah Addo, known in showbiz as Wendy Shay, has disclosed that she actually ignores reading some messages on social media because of death threats. Wendy Shay has revealed that she has been the subject of bullying for a long time on social media since she came into the music limelight. She said she has faced death threats and criticism on social media a lot, which has negatively affected her life.
She said people used to harass her using fake social media accounts, and if she makes an effort to trace them, it goes down the drain. Wendy Shay said in an interview on Hitz FM that she intentionally quit responding to some messages on social media to save herself from all these bullies.
“I faced a lot of backlash when I started music. I had death threats and all of that on social media when I came into the industry. You can’t even find them. We traced some of the accounts and realized that most of them were accounts that were created just to bully me,” Wendy said.
She, however, stated that her decision not to read messages and comments also harmed her in some way, as she missed an opportunity to get featured by an artist by the name of Trilla.
“I got a message from Trilla, and at that time it was new, and they wanted to put me on, but I missed it. That’s why we decided that I’m going to have my team members also have logins into my account,” she stated.
Wendy Shay affirmed that she is not bothered by the public backlash anymore but is now strictly focused on her music, and she thanked her fans for the massive support they’ve shown her in her music journey.
