Veteran Ghanaian artist Okyeame Kwame has disclosed that he was very hurt when Kofi Kinaata won the Songwriter of the Year Award 3 times to break his record. Okyeame Kwame who has won the award twice back-to-back, revealed how hurt he was.
Okyeame Kwame made this known on Onua TV and also disclosed that he decided to record a song with Kofi Kinaata in order to study how he sings and go about his songs.
“After beating me, I was a little bit pained and hurt, so I decided to do a recording with him to witness how he records in order to learn and understand what he does.” Okyeame Kwame said.
“So we started talking about how we would do a song together for almost 3 to 4 years, and we were still discussing when this would finally happen.
“So last year we decided to do the recording, and so I sent him a beat with my vocals on it, and after listening, Kofi Kinaata told me it wasn’t good or nice.” He added.
Okyeame Kwame recently recorded a song with Kofi Kinaata titled “Sika,” which made positive moves on streaming platforms and was well-received by fans.
Kofi Kinaata has won the “Songwriter of the Year” award at the Vodafone/ Telecel Ghana Music Awards three times on different occasions at 2017, 2020 and 2021 edition of the awards
